Dr. Abdu Umar Ardo
Dr Abdu Umar Ardo, a veterinary doctor by profession is also an extension specialist. He is a sensitizer, communicator and mobilizer to the core.
Born on 12th February, 1968 in Barikin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State. Umar, a graduate of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria where he qualified as Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) in 1994. He also bagged a Master’s degree in Agricultural Extension Systems and Management in the year 2000 from the University of Reading, United Kingdom. A computer expert, he poses a certificate in Information and Technology Services on Microsoft word 97, Microsoft Excel 97 and Microsoft power point 97 from the same University.
Dr Umar has proficiency and experience in designing and implementing sustainable development projects for socially excluded and marginalized groups in Nigeria. He is also an asset in capacity building, coordination and facilitation. He has excellent advocacy, communication, mentoring as well as good report writing and presentation skills. In the field of research, he has no other in comparison on unearthing evidence based data for planning and development. He is also a fast learner, which implies he easily grasps and utilizes any knew knowledge he is exposed to. He attended Intensive Internship Training on Interactive Radio Instruction [IRI] Methodology for nomads under the Universal Basic Education Second Primary Education Project II (PEP II) conducted by Open Learning Systems Education Trust [OLSET], Johannesburg, South Africa, from Sept,29th – 24th Oct, 2003.
He organizes, plans and conducts superlatively rated workshops, seminars, conferences and round table meetings at local, regional, national and international levels. He also attended various workshops and seminars too numerous to mention
at various levels. He also obtained an international diploma in Project Planning and Management in 2009 under the auspices of the CADD Center, Abuja. He is a fellow of KOICA improvement and advancement for tomorrow. It is against this backdrop that he is currently the Director Extension, Education and Skills Development of the Commission. He also oversees the affairs of the Commission’s skill acquisition centre as well as the entire Commission in the absence of the Executive Secretary.
